Tagline Writing Advice

There’s more to writing a great tagline than being clever. I figured I’d post a few guidelines that will help you write a killer tagline without stressing your brain too much.

Writing Taglines

First of all, this is not a how-to post, rather it is a bulleted list of items to keep in mind while writing a killer tag. Follow these guidelines and you’ll be well on your way to a working tagline solution.

  • Keep it positive (no one likes a negative statement)
  • Keep it short
  • Try to stay in the 5 syllable range
  • Illustrate the benefit
  • Don’t allow the consumer/reader to wonder (too much)
  • Explain the service provided without being generic (the tag shouldn’t apply to just any company)
  • Make it meaningful
